Join us at Sharon Springs Central School for free dance and drumming classes from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., followed by an evening performance by TAKE Dance at 7 p.m. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

TAKE Dance takes the stage
Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Takehiro Ueyama, TAKE Dance brings athletic physicality, musicality, and expressive contemporary choreography to the Sharon Springs Dance Festival.

Classes and performance
Choose a class, try something new, or join us for the evening performance. Two classes run concurrently at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
10:00–11:00 a.m.
Community Kids Dance Class with TAKE Dance
With Corinna Lee Nicholson
A welcoming modern dance warm-up, creative movement, and movement inspired by TAKE Dance repertory. No previous dance experience is required.
10:00–11:00 a.m.
Adult Contact Improvisation
With Angelica Palmer
Explore shared movement, balance, momentum, and physical awareness through guided exercises. No previous dance experience is required.
11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.
Community Adult Dance Class with TAKE Dance
With Kristen Bell
A modern dance class with a warm-up, across-the-floor movement, and a center phrase, suitable for beginners and experienced dancers.

African Drumming for Kids
With Zorkie Nelson
Hands-on introduction to Ghanaian rhythms and drumming techniques. No musical experience is needed; drums are provided.
12:30–1:30 p.m.
Adult African Drumming
With Zorkie Nelson
Explore traditional Ghanaian rhythms on hand drums including kpanlogo and djembe. No previous experience is needed; drums are provided.
1:45–2:45 p.m.
Adult African Dance
With Zorkie Nelson and dancers
An energetic introduction to West African dance, rhythm, expression, and community. All experience levels are welcome.
3:00–4:00 p.m.
Belly Dance
With Erika Miller
Foundational movements including hip drops, figure eights, shimmies, and graceful arm movements, with choreography and improvisation. All levels are welcome.
4:15–5:15 p.m.
Stretch Class
With Betty Gavin-Singer
A gentle cool-down combining standing and floor movements to release tension and support flexibility. Please bring a yoga mat.
5:15–7 p.m. · Dinner break
Enjoy dinner at a local Sharon Springs establishment before the performance.
7 p.m.
TAKE Dance Company: Evening Performance
Free · Open to the public
Contemporary dance by the New York City-based company. The performance concludes the festival.
