Every year, we kick off the Poetry Festival with this special fundraising event, and 2026 is no exception! We’re thrilled to announce that, by special arrangement, the 2026 Dinner with the Poets will take place at the historic American Hotel and will be prepared by Chef Lee Woolver.
In addition to a special American Hotel dinner, attendees will be able to meet the poets in advance of the public events, and each of the Festival poets, Sherman Alexie, Tina Chang, and Mary Jo Salter, will offer a special reading between courses.
- Cash bar opens at 6:00 p.m.
- Dinner is served at 7:00 p.m.
- $90 per person includes dinner and gratuity; drinks are extra.
- We will do our best to honor seating preferences.
- A vegetarian option is available at checkout.

Adult Poetry Writing Workshops
Spend the morning writing, reading, and talking about poetry with some of the most distinguished poets working today. The Sharon Springs Poetry Festival offers four intimate writing workshops led by Paul Muldoon, Sherman Alexie, Tina Chang, and Mary Jo Salter.
Limited to just eight participants each, these small-group workshops offer a rare opportunity to work directly with one of the festival poets in an informal and supportive setting. Participants of all levels of experience are welcome, from practicing poets to those who are simply interested in exploring their own writing.
Workshops are free, but space is extremely limited and advance registration is required.
Bring copies of an original work to share and discuss with your poet and workshop group.

About Klinkhart Hall Arts Center
Klinkhart Hall Arts Center, Inc. is creating a home for the arts in Sharon Springs, bringing together dynamic performances, visual arts exhibitions, community events, and educational programs. Our programming reflects a commitment to excellence, inclusion, and cultural diversity. We believe the arts have the power to transform lives, spark conversation, and strengthen communities.
With support from New York State and our community, the transformation of historic Klinkhart Hall is underway. Events currently take place at venues around the village while we restore the building. We invite you to be part of this growing movement that celebrates creativity, supports revitalization, and brings new energy to our village—as an audience member and a collaborator in building a cultural hub that reflects the spirit and potential of rural life.
