THE UPPER CATSKILL STRING QUARTET
PRESENTING
DIVERSE VOICES OF AMERICAN MUSIC
- Florence Price (1887-1953), was the first African-American female composer to gain national recognition;
- Zhou Long, an Asian-American composer who received the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Music;
- Amy Beach (1867-1944), was one of the first successful American female composers of large-scale art music;
- Astro Piazzolla (1921-1992), an Argentine-American known as the world’s foremost composer of Tango music.
This season, The Upper Catskill String Quartet will present performances at four locations around Schoharie County.
These concerts are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts, DBA CREATE (Council for Resources to Enrich the Arts, Technology & Education).
