The first Sharon Springs Shakespeare in the Park Festival, August 9 – 15, 2017 was a glorious success — even the weather cooperated! But don’t just take our word for it (although you can), Here’s a sample of comments from letters to the local paper:
“The two usual barriers to appreciating Shakespeare are the ticket price and the language. For the Sharon Springs production, those barriers melted away, as the price was free, and the actors, despite using no electronic sound enhancement, articulated the language so clearly that the message came through loud and clear.”
“The production was very professional, on par with typical New York City plays, despite using little costuming, hardly any staging, and no sound enhancement. Moreover, the choice of play, ‘As You Like It,’ was particularly appropriate for a premier production in Sharon Springs, as it goes deeply into the relative benefits of living in the country (the ‘forest’) vs the city (the ‘courts’).”
We could not have said it better ourselves!
We’re sorry you missed it . . . but these short videos will give you an idea of why it was such a success . . . and what you might expect in the future!
