2021 End-of-Year Update & Some Good News

We did not reach our 2021 fundraising goal . . . but we’ve received new grants for programming!

December 31, 2021

A message to our valued Friends & Supporters:

First an update: As the new year begins, and we tally up the many donations received for our capital campaign, it is clear that we have not reached our end-of-year fundraising goals. This means that our long-awaited start of Klinkhart Hall’s rehabilitation is now on pause. With our $150,000 fundraising shortfall, we simply cannot move forward at this time.

While this is disappointing, it does not mean that our work stops. We still have a shovel-ready project with full architectural and engineering plans, State Historic Preservation Office approval, $820,000 in state and corporate grants, and a ready line of credit. And we are still actively seeking grants and donations to restart the process as quickly as possible.

Now For the Good News:

KHAC has received two performing arts grants totaling $59,500 for programming in the coming year!

These two grants—$10,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for the Poetry Festival and $49,500 from the New York Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for performing arts—are the maximum awarded by NEA and NYSCA in each category.

The Poetry Festival grant will enable us to expand our premier event, now in its sixth year, to include additional activities, while the performing arts grant will enable us to present a complete season of art, music, theater, and dance, including the return of free summer concerts in Chalybeate Park!

In the coming weeks, you’ll hear more about these extraordinary grants in our emails and on our website. But for now, we’ll say this: none of it would have happened without your help and support.

You can help keep this important community project moving forward by making a tax-deductible donation  – large or small  – to Klinkhart Hall Arts Center. Be a part of it!
